We thought we could sell our house without a realtor. After all, we had bought our home as a For Sale By Owner, and during the 10 years we lived there, we maintained the charm while renovating the kitchen and bathrooms. The house, we thought, would all but sell itself.
We knew it was not the seller’s market it had been when we purchased our home, but the market had changed in ways that we did not understand. The FSBO process was difficult and unsettling–doubly so because we were also purchasing our new home from friends as a FSBO.
