Relocating to the Capital Region?
Sometimes we are contacted by people looking to relocate to the Capital Region. Having lived and worked here our entire adult lives, we can only imagine how daunting it must be to decide if both a job and a location are a good fit for your life. While we can’t help determine if the job is right, we do help people decide if this is somewhere they can imagine themselves living.
The first step is asking what they want in their next house and community. Questions range from size and style of home, urban versus rural location, what community amenities they value, how they spend their free time, etc. With that information in mind, we create personalized tours, highlighting the neighborhoods and areas that best match their preferences.
While on the tour, we explore the pros and cons of buying right away versus renting for a time. Sometimes buyers want to get settled into a school district for their children and only move once and other times, they choose to rent either short-term or for a year or two, to decide where they want to put down roots. Either is fine with us, as with all our clients, we want people to find the right house at the right time, we’re in no hurry.
We have worked with buyers from California to Boston, Michigan to Seattle, Rochester to New Mexico and it's always interesting to learn about different markets and their real estate practices. We know there are so may great places to live and maybe Albany doesn’t rise to the top of everybody’s list but we think it is a great place to live and work. Looking for walkable city living? We have that. Always dreamed of owning a small farm? You can! Want to avoid long commute times? No problem! Hoping for high quality public education? So many choices! Do you spend your free time shopping, going to the theater, dancing at a club, visiting an art museum, taking a hike, kayaking, enjoying dinner out, going to an outdoor music venue? The Capital District has all that and more! Notice all the exclamation points? We are fans.
Recently we created All About the Capital Region, a relocation guide, to help people learn more about our area and its different communities. Even if you have lived here your whole life, check it out - you might just learn something you didn’t know!
Whether you have a friend considering relocating or your place of employment is looking for assistance with potential hires, we are here to help!
